Growing hope: Play, purpose and possibility

A Moment of Calm

After a long, difficult day, Johnny could no longer control his frustration. His feelings were too big to name and started pouring out. To release his emotions, Johnny started lashing out at others and throwing objects around the room.

Johnny’s therapist decided to not redirect him with words but rather with paints and paper. When he started, the brush strokes were heavy and restless, but slowly they began to soften. Lost in the rhythm of creating, Johnny found a sense of calm within the artwork and by the end, there was a sense of peace in the air. Through a positive outlet of expression, Johnny was able to let go of the harsh and overwhelming emotions.

Every Child Deserves Joy

Every child deserves a summer filled with joy, discovery, and the freedom to be a kid. Yet, many of the children in DCCH Center’s Residential Program have had their childhood interrupted by trauma, loss, and extreme uncertainty. Through play, creativity, and connection, we can provide our children with experiences that enhance their healing process and allow them to grow and flourish in their environment.

Help Us Reach Our Goal

To make this vision a reality this summer and beyond, DCCH Center is looking to raise $30,000 by Labor Day – September 7th. With your help and support, we will be able to provide the supplies, equipment, and experiences that create positive, lighthearted memories.

Help Us Grow Hope

Your generosity does more than fund activities – it restores a childhood. Thank you for helping us grow hope – one child, one experience, one joyful moment at a time.
