How long have you been at DCCH, what is your position, and what transitions have you had here (if any)?
I worked at DCCH as a teacher’s aide at Guardian Angel school when I started in 2004. That was when the school was still in the old building! I worked at DCCH for five years. Working with the clientele encouraged me to go back for my master’s degree in social work and become a therapist. I also did my practicum with Ron Bertsch in foster care. I then worked in foster care for nine years at a different agency. I most recently came back to DCCH in 2019 as an outpatient/school therapist.
What’s something people don’t know about you?
I have a 5-year plan to move to FLORIDA because I am not a fan of the cold long-lasting winters that we have here.
Tell us about family – what’s that look like?
I am married and have a 1-year-old son named Xander! I also have 2 dogs: Roxy and Chase.
What do you love the most about working here?
I love being able to help kids/teens with their issues. A lot of my clients struggle with anxiety which is something I also struggle with, so I love being able to teach them helpful coping skills.
What is your biggest challenge in this job?
Covid has been the biggest challenge. I had to start doing outpatient here on campus when the schools were shut down. Hopefully I will be back in the schools for the upcoming school year!
