What We Do

We offer first aid training, CPR certification, and continuing education for social workers in Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati communities. We also offer foster care, adoption, and respite care training services. DCCH is a member of the Children's Alliance and Foster Care Cooperative.

First Aid Training and CPR Certification

Individuals and groups interested in completing American Heart Association 1st Aid/CPR/AED training can attend classes held at DCCH. Dates will be posted soon.

Social Work Continuing Education

DCCH Center offers many training opportunities for area social workers in need of continuing education units. Dates will be posted soon.

Foster Care/ Adoption Training

Foster Care Training

Foster parents are required to participate in the following training before welcoming a foster child into their home:

  • Attend an 1.5 hour orientation meeting;
  • Fulfill 30 hours of pre-service training, typically held in a group setting, meeting for three hours one evening a week over a 10 week period. Individual training is available for potential foster parents unable to attend evening classes;
  • CPR / First Aid certification;
  • Complete Catholic Church’s Protecting God’s Children VIRTUS curriculum, a three hour class taught by DCCH staff.

Adoption Training

Adoption training is similar to foster parent training and includes:

  • Attending an 1.5 hour orientation meeting;
  • Fulfilling 30 hours of pre-service training, typically held in a group setting, meeting for three hours one evening a week over a 10 week period. Individual training is available for potential adoptive parents unable to attend evening classes;
  • Requiring CPR / First Aid certification;
  • Completing Catholic Church’s Protecting God’s Children VIRTUS curriculum, a three hour class taught by DCCH staff.

Respite Care Training

DCCH Center for Children and Families asks potential respite care providers to participate in the following training:

  • Attend an orientation meeting;
  • Fulfill nine hours of training;
  • Complete Catholic Church’s Protecting God’s Children VIRTUS curriculum, a three hour class taught by DCCH staff;
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred but not required.
